Google Expands Power Button Menu in Android 11

A lot of Android phone makers normally expand the power button menu to allow users to swiftly launch tasks or the voice assistant, instead of displaying only the power off and restart buttons. And now, Google is also looking to add that to Android with the latest 11 version of the operating system.

There are some leaked documents on the internet that show how the menu looks. From the mockups of the leaked resources, one can see that the standard buttons for emergency calls and power off are moved all the way to the top. This now leaves enough room for the smart home controls and the wallet containing bank and loyalty cards.

In addition to this, the added controls give users instant access to home’s lighting, thermostat, cameras and everything IoT-related. So, now you’ll be able to control them with a single tap or tap and hold will take you to the corresponding app or bring out additional options.

We are yet to know if the power button menu will be customizable with third-party apps or tasks, but we should know soon, considering the fact that Google has already pushed back the Android 11 Beta Launch Show.
