Jio GigaFiber Plan, Pricing, Launch date
At the recent 42nd annual general meeting of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), the company chairman and managing director, Mukesh Ambani, had announced Jio’s broadband internet services arm called Jio GigaFiber. Now, the commercial operation of the service is scheduled to begin from September 5, and right ahead of the rollout, we decided to bring to you a list of things you need to know about JioFiber – right from tariff plans to some great service offers.
Reliance Industries’ Jio Fiber services are promising customers that it will offer internet services at speeds going from 100 Mbps, and all the way up to a massive 1 Gbps. The Jio GigaFiber plans will also begin from Rs 700 and can go up to Rs 10,000 per month depending on the kind of subscription plan you opt for.
As part of availing the Jio GigaFiber service, users will be eligible to get a free 4K set-top box and a landline connection. This landline connection will let you make voice calls across India on other mobile phones as well as landline numbers. The set-top box will also allow you to make video calls, to other Jio users across platform using the JioCall app. However, you must have a webcam attached to your TV to avail that service. Jio GigaFiber Welcome offer
Moreover, as part of the JioFiber Welcome Offer, users who opt for annual plans will be eligible for a free HD or 4K LED TVs. Jio GigaFiber services will also come bundled with OTT applications so that you don’t have to pay separately to access these services. However, the company is yet to reveal which OTT services are going to be part of this plan. There is a Jio First Day First Show offer as well, which will allow Premium Jio Fiber customers to watch movies on their TVs on the same day as their theatrical release. This feature, the company says, will be available from mid-2020 onwards.
The current offer that is available is called the JioFiber preview offer, which gives customers ultra-high-speed internet up to 100Mbps free for a Limited Preview Period, along with complimentary access to a large number of Jio’s premium apps. In case you end up exhausting your entire data quota, you can still continue to enjoy Jio’s high-speed internet services by performing a complimentary data top-up of 40 GB via MyJio App or through Jio.com. As this is a preview offer, there are no installation charges levied but there is a refundable security deposit of Rs.2,500 taken for the ONT device (JioFiber Router). This amount needs to be paid through Debit card, Credit Card, Jio Money or Pay TM.
Ahead of the launch of Jio GigaFiber services, some images of the set-top-box have already surfaced online. These were posted by someone named ‘DreamDTH’, and shows a blue colour set-top-box with Jio sticker on the top panel. The hybrid set-top-box features an HDMI port, Ethernet port, and two USB ports as well.
