Samsung Galaxy M31 Teased With 64 MP Camera

Samsung Galaxy M31

After years of meting out a step-sisterly treatment to its budget phones, Samsung finally upped its game in 2019 when it upgraded the Galaxy A series with better specifications. This made them much more competitive in the upper mid-range segments of the smartphone market. Samsung also took the fight to brands like Xiaomi and Realme, who are already kings in this segment, by releasing an online-only Galaxy M series in the lower mid-range segment.

In that pursuit, Samsung kept launching new phones in the mid-range market. Just earlier this year, it came up with the Galaxy A51, a mild upgrade of its predecessor, the Galaxy A50s. And now, according to popular YouTubers GeekyRanjit and Technical Guruji, Samsung is all set to release the Galaxy M31, a successor to the M30.

SamsungBoth the influencers have released exclusive teasers of the Samsung Galaxy M31, which reveals the phone’s name and also states that it will feature a 64MP camera with the tagline ‘Mega Monster’. The tagline could possibly mean that it will have the same 6,000mAh battery capacity as its predecessor, and if true, will beat all its competitors in this respect. While there were no other details offered, we hope that Samsung will announce the launch date quite soon. The 64MP primary camera is also expected to use Samsung’s 64MP ISOCELL GW1 sensor.

The upcoming Galaxy M31 has also recently received Bluetooth SIG and Wi-Fi certifications, which have revealed that it would come out of the box with Android 10, feature dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. Some more rumours that came out previously have suggested that it could have a quad camera setup consisting of a 64MP primary sensor, an ultra-wide-angle camera, a depth sensor, and a macro camera. This quite clearly imitates the camera setups of Redmi Note 8 Pro and the Realme XT, but obviously Samsung could come up with its own twist to it.

The M31 could also possibly be powered by the same Exynos 9611 SoC that fueled both its predecessor and the Galaxy A50s/Galaxy A51. It could come paired with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB of expandable storage. None of these details, however, have been confirmed.

The upcoming phone’s predecessor, Galaxy M30, recently received a price cut in India, with the 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant now available at Rs.12,999, down from its launch price of Rs.13,999. The 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant went down from Rs.16,999 to Rs.14,999. Could these price cuts very well be an indication of the impending launch of the Galaxy M31? We’ll have to wait and watch!
