Xiaomi’s ‘Gauguin’ Devices Spotted on MIUI

Xiaomi is reportedly working on two new devices, with its premium version having a 108-megapixel main camera. This key piece of information has been found in the MIUI 12 code, and the two phones are codenamed ‘Gauguin’ and ‘Gauguin Pro’.

According to the code, these phones will launch in India and China, and there are also mentions of a global variant. It is possible that each region might see different specifications on the phones as well.

XDA Developers members ‘kacskrz’ and ‘Deic’ reportedly saw the mentions of Gauguin inside MIUI 12 code. The members spotted two Xiaomi phones in the series and these phones are said to come with quad rear camera setups. Xiaomi’s Gauguin smartphone is rumoured to come with 64-megapixel main camera, while the Gauguin Pro will feature a 108-megapixel primary sensor.

MIUI 12 code also has mentions of three markets for the Gauguin series – China, India, and global. In addition, the code suggests that Gauguin is expected to have a model number ending with J17, while Gauguin Pro phone is J17Pro. The code also suggests that both the phones will be powered by Qualcomm chipsets.

In fact, much similar to this, a Redmi K30 Ultra model was also spotted in the MIUI 12 code. This phone will likely sit alongside the already launched Redmi K30 and Redmi K30 Pro phones.
