Huawei Mate 30 Pro Leaks Show Circular Camera
While biggies of the mobile tech world, including Apple and Samsung, are rumoured to have a ‘squircle’ camera in their flagships this year, Huawei has already gone a step ahead. The Chinese giant has ‘been there, done that’ with the Mate 20 Pro last year, and if reports are to go by, the phone’s successor may be going another way entirely.
According to an image outed recently, the back glass for Huawei’s upcoming Mate 30 Pro might employ a circular camera island, leaving Apple and Google far behind in the fight to win the award for the most unique looking camera shapes.
We are many, many months away from the Mate 30 Pro’s official release, so the designs might actually not be legit true. But given how Huawei has never shied away from bringing crazy new designs to the market, it looks quite plausible that it may choose to take the circular path.
The Mate 30 Pro is expected to be powered by the Kirin 985 chipset, and it will have a 5G version too – that one employing the company’s own Balong 5000 modem. Huawei Deputy Chairman Ken Hu announced an update on the company’s progress in 5G deployment, sharing examples of how service innovation and cross-industry collaboration are driving the next phase of growth in 5G, at the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai.
Huawei also holds more than 2,500 standard essential patents for 5G, which is roughly 20% of all 5G patents in the world, the Deputy Chairman said, adding that innovation is not just about technology, and part of Huawei’s success is the focus on making 5G easier to operate, more affordable, and simpler to deploy.
With Huawei facing major issues lately (Read all about the Huawei ban), the purported leaks could bring some respite to the company in terms of good PR.
