What this site covers

Phones, and the things that decide how a phone behaves: the specification sheet, the price it launched at, the chip inside it and the software it ships with. That splits across the wire for what happened today, reviews for the verdict on a model, Know your phone for the explainers, In depth for the longer pieces, apps and games for software, and the specification archive — the largest part of the site — where every model we hold a document for gets one sheet in one fixed field order, so that any two of them line up row by row.

How the pages are made

A data sheet carries manufacturer figures and nothing else; a field we have no source for stays empty rather than guessed. A score is the desk's opinion and is labelled as one. News entries link to the sheet of the phone they are about wherever we hold one. The full method, including what a score does and does not mean, is on how we work.

Independence

Some outbound links here are commercial and are marked in the page source. They do not buy a score, a place on a hub or a line in a listing, and no advertiser sees a piece before it is published.
