OPPO posted the above promo, reminding Twitterati about the launch on June 26 at MWC Shanghai 2019. There is a short video that reveals the design of the smartphone and it seems to have a huge screen-to-body ratio and Under-Display Selfie Camera. From a previously released teaser, we already know that the front-facing camera can take pictures, but when it is turned off, the screen on top continues to have working pixels. There’s also the circular ring around the snapper to remind you where you should look at since it is hidden in the black bars of the Camera app.
OPPO has been consistently scoring high on the camera innovation department. Just last month it launched its best flagship till date, the Reno 10x Zoom that wowed the world with its industry-first triple-camera 10x hybrid zoom (48 MP + 8 MP + 13 MP) and the world’s first shark-fin rising front camera (16 MP). Apart from its 10x zoom feature, which itself is a revolution in the smartphone market, the phone also came with an AI-powered virtual personal assistant that could make intelligent decisions, a feature that transformed the scenario of the smartphone market. Ever since the smartphone giant has been going to great lengths to ensure it meets the ever-evolving needs of consumers and has managed to successfully dethrone quite a few premium brands.
Will the new phone be able to live up to the hype that OPPO has created? Only time will tell. Till then, all we can do is wait for the MWC event to unfold and give us a glimpse into the next OPPO innovation.
