OPPO’s new A5s is tipped to outdo peers in the budget category

Global smartphone manufacturer OPPO with one tweet has confirmed what we’ve all been excitedly waiting for. The company is all set to add a new member to its ever-growing list of budget A-series phones – the OPPO A5s. The OPPO A-series has already been quite successfully received in India, being popular picks in the affordable segment. The new phone will be a successor to the OPPO A3s that was launched last year in July, and will also be an advanced version of the A5.

At least two of the touted specs of the new phone have been confirmed by OPPO in its latest tweet, which includes a 4,230 mAh battery and a waterdrop screen. The battery is definitely more powerful than all of OPPO’s peers in the budget category, or even premium flagships, and also possibly the best offered by the company itself.

As far as the screen is concerned, the phone is reported to have a 6.2-inch HD+ resolution display, although we are yet to know if the screen will have scratch protection such as Gorilla Glass. With a waterdrop display with slim bezels around it, the design is definitely an upgrade of the existing OPPO A5, since it will give users more screen-to-body ratio. The official image from the company also suggests that the phone may have a fingerprint sensor on the back.

The phone is expected to be powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core SoC and is touted to come in multiple RAM variants – ranging from 2GB to 4GB. The inbuilt storage could either be 32GB or 64GB and possibly also expandable via a microSD card slot.

Around the back, the OPPO A5s appears to have a two-camera setup, along with an LED flash, but we can’t be sure about the specifications, yet. The image released by OPPO shows the phone in a glossy black variant, although we do expect the company to launch many other colour options.

While we still have to wait a while for the official launch, the host of outstanding features under a possible price tag of Rs 10,000, the OPPO A5s definitely looks like it is going to ‘outdo the rest’.
