Chinese tech company Redmi has unveiled its first smartwatch entry, named the Redmi Watch. The watch has been launched alongside its Redmi Note 9 series in China. It is a rectangular smartwatch with the usual set of fitness, heart-rate and sleep tracking paired with a super affordable price tag.
The Redmi Watch features a 1.4-inch colour display with 320 x 320-pixel resolution and 2.5D glass. You can choose between black, white, and navy blue colours for the watch, along with a matching silicone watch strap that is also available in pink and green options.
Redmi has offered over 120 watch faces which you can tinker with using the Mi Fit app. Users also get the standard array of sports modes to keep them active. The Redmi Watch pairs over Bluetooth 5.0 BLE and also comes with NFC. It’s waterproof at up to 50m depths and weighs just 35grams.
The battery life is rated at 7 days with normal use and 12 days with the power-saving mode turned on. It charges via a proprietary cradle and a full charge takes 2 hours.
The Redmi Watch will sell for CNY 299 ($45) though it’s offered for CNY 269 ($40) in a limited time offer. Sales in China begin on December 1. However, details on international availability have not been disclosed. The wearable could make its way outside of China as the Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite, a name which was spotted in an FCC listing a while ago.
