Redmi K20 is Going to Arrive on Indian Shores on July 17
In a much-anticipated confirmation from Xiaomi, two new devices – the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro – unveiled late in May 2019 are now slated to launch in India on July 17, after being initially expected to come to shelves on July 15.
The information was shared by Xiaomi India’s Managing Director Manu Jain who took to Twitter to inform everyone about this latest development. While he didn’t explicitly mention the launch date, he did say that there are ‘4 weeks to go’ for the Redmi K20 duo to debut in India.
The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro are actually quite similar, albeit with two crucial differences: the K20 comes with Snapdragon 730 SoC and 18W fast charging, while the Pro variant ships with a Snapdragon 855 chipset and 27W fast charging.
The Redmi K20 was launched by Xiaomi last week in Europe under the Mi 9T moniker, but it has been learned that both the K20 devices will retain the original names when they launch in India.
The Redmi K20 comes with a 6.39-inch AMOLED of 2340x1080px resolution and an embedded in-display fingerprint scanner. Thanks to a pop-up 20MP f/2.2 selfie camera, this device from Xiaomi also comes without the infamous notch. On the opposite side, the device has a triple camera with the popular 48MP f/1.8 snapper as the main camera, an 8MP f/2.4 tele, and 13MP f/2.4 ultrawide lens.
The Redmi K20 is one of the first Snapdragon 730-powered smartphones and will come with the aforementioned 6GB of RAM. Plus, it will be backed by a powerful 4,000 mAh battery, that should have enough juice to support a full day of activities on the phone.
Xiaomi has been doling out quite a few hefty devices for the Indian market, the latest being the hugely anticipated gaming phone, Xiaomi Black Shark 2, which launched on May 27. The Black Shark 2 is Xiaomi’s first smartphone for India and made its debut in China in March this year.
