Phone durability tests are not new, and some can actually be outright whacky. People have been made to stomp over phones, and even cut fruits and vegetables on it! However, this new durability test from the house of Xiaomi is unseen, unmatched, and unbelievable.
To prove the quality of build of the Redmi Note 7, the company sent one of its unit in space, where the phone took pictures at an altitude of 31,000m, before falling to the ground without any major damage!
Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? We couldn’t believe it either till we saw this video.
The video starts with asking viewers how one can prove that the phone is ‘out-of-this-world good’, followed by answering the question with a ‘by launching it into space’. The phone is then sent up, tied to what looks like a parachute-like designed instrument. The video shows changing temperature and atmospheric pressure, indicating how high up the phone is going. After reaching about 35,000m of altitude, the phone starts to come down, eventually falling back to Earth. When it’s finally picked up, the phone shows absolutely no sign of damage (even the screen doesn’t crack!). The phone is off by this time but is turned on almost immediately afterward. The video ends with depicting how the phone has all out-of-the-world features while hailing its 48 MP camera that will ‘capture all’.
While many people have sent GoPros and other tech in space, this is the first time that a Xiaomi mobile device went to the stratosphere of Earth. The photos taken by the device were also later posted on the company’s official Twitter handle.
