Vivo Announces the Fastest-Charging Phone, Ever

Who doesn’t want a phone that charges in no time? Fast-charging technology has evolved like nothing else, and keeping up with this trend, Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has just unveiled its 120W fast-charge technology at the Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2019.

So far, we have seen the likes of OPPO Super VOOC, which, at 50W, is able to charge just shy of 50 percent battery in a OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition in 20 minutes. However, the whopping 120W Vivo technology is almost two-and-a-half times faster than Super VOOC. The Chinese company claims that just five minutes at the plug could deliver a 50 percent charge to its 4,000 mAh battery. Now that is crazy fast!

This is also Vivo’s first commercial 5G phone, named the Vivo iQoo 5G, which will be available in the third quarter of 2019. Spark Ni, Senior Vice President of Vivo also said, “Vivo’s mission has always been to develop innovative products to deliver the ultimate user experience, with smart devices and smart services as the core of our business. We hope through the introduction of new strategy and innovation we can truly make a big impact in improving people’s quality of life and society as a whole.”

The company also showcased a variety of 5G applications, which included 5G Cloud Game, 5G Screen Mirroring, and 5G EasyShare, along with many smart life scenarios.

And the company didn’t stop here. Vivo also announced its AR Glass at MWC Shanghai 2019. The Vivo AR Glass comes with a dual-screen display and 6DoF Technology support. According to a statement by the company, “After connecting with the 5G smartphone, users can experience a range of applications such as mobile office, AR games, 3D high-definition video, facial recognition and object recognition on the Vivo AR Glass.”

Online listing for the phone shows the new Vivo iQoo smartphone would come in Black and Purple colour options. At the pre-MWC Shanghai conference, Vivo announced that the new device will carry a Snapdragon X50 modem and Snapdragon 855 SoC. The prices for the device are yet to be announced.
