After a long wait to reveal, the OnePlus 7 series is all set to launch in the public eye on May 14. The smartphone brand is launching two devices this time around. The last time it did this was when it launched the OnePlus 3. The launch event is happening in Bengaluru on May 14 through a global event that will be simultaneously held in London and New York as well. This basically means that the latest OnePlus products will be unveiled in European and American markets at the same time as India. The launch event will be live-streamed on the company’s website from 8 pm IST.
The phone is going to be officially introduced as the successor to the OnePlus 6T. The OnePlus 7 Pro is also going to be the company’s first attempt at making an ultra-premium smartphone with flagship features. The launch will also unveil the OnePlus 7, the official successor to the previous versions, and also more affordable.
Here are some details on what you can expect from the two new devices –
OnePlus 7 Pro
The OnePlus 7 Pro is going to be a flagship smartphone, according to the umpteen leaks and rumours so far. The device is expected to be presented as a rival to the Apple iPhone XR and Samsung Galaxy S10, and prices may start at Rs 49,999 for the base variant with 6GB RAM. There is also going to be a 12GB RAM variant with 256GB storage, which might cost somewhere around Rs 60,000.
The OnePlus 7 Pro will come with the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, and Oxygen OS based on Android 9 Pie. It is rumoured that the device will offer a 90Hz Curved AMOLED display with Quad HD+ resolution. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau mentioned earlier that the display is three times costlier than other conventional displays on other phones, which signals towards the 90Hz Refresh Rate.
Many reports have confirmed that the phone will house a triple rear camera setup, with a 3X optical zoom camera, along with a wide-angle camera. The leaks also show that the smartphone will have a combination of a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor and a 16-megapixel wide-angle camera, along with an 8-megapixel telephoto camera. Much like some of the recent OPPO and Vivo launches, this device is also expected to have a pop-up selfie camera to eliminate the display notch.
The OnePlus 7 is mostly expected to be similar to the OnePlus 6T, albeit with minor upgrades in terms of specifications. The base variant of the OnePlus 7 might come with a price tag of Rs 40,000 this year.
The device will possibly have a 60Hz Full HD+ display with a waterdrop notch on top, along with an optical in-display fingerprint sensor. As for other internal specifications, the OnePlus 7 will be powered by the same Snapdragon 855 chipset with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It will also run on Oxygen OS based on Android 9 Pie.
Instead of the triple camera setup, the OnePlus 7 is expected to have a dual camera system, with a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor.
